Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Will I get a CD for WeightWare?
How does WeightWare compare to online logs?
Can WeightWare display my weight in Pounds (US), Kilograms, or Stone (British)?
Do I have to weigh myself every day?
How can WeightWare calculate my calorie deficit if I don't count calories?

Will I get a CD for WeightWare?

No. WeightWare is sold using a "download and try before you buy" business model. The software is freely available via download, which will install a fully featured 30-day trial version on your PC. During the trial period, you can use WeightWare without any restrictions. After the 30 day trial you will no longer be able to enter any new data in WeightWare, but your previously entered data will remain intact.

When you purchase WeightWare, you will be sent a registration key code via email. After you install this key, the 30-day trial version limitation is removed.

How does WeightWare compare to online logs?

Unlike web-based weight and health logs, WeightWare is a native Windows® program. It has been designed for speed - you can log your daily weight with only two mouse clicks, and instantly see an updated summary of your weight trend. There's no need to go online or remember a password for a web site, and there are no monthly subscription fees. Plus, your data is stored securely on your own computer.

Can WeightWare display my weight in Pounds (US), Kilograms, or Stone (British)?

Yes. Just click on the "Options" toolbar button on the main WeightWare toolbar. One of the options you'll see is to switch between US, Metric, and British units of weight. You may change this at any time - it does not affect your health data, only how the data is displayed.

Do I have to weigh myself every day?

WeightWare assumes, but does not require, daily weigh-ins. Each weigh-in is a "data point", and the more data points that it has to work with, the better WeightWare's analysis will be.

Note: if you miss a day or two, don't worry about it. WeightWare will automatically fill in estimates for the days you miss.

How can WeightWare calculate my calorie deficit if I don't count calories?

WeightWare calculates your weight trend, using your recorded weigh-ins and a mathematical technique called "linear regression". Since one lb of fat is equal to 3500 calories, WeightWare can use your calculated weight trend to accurately estimate your daily calorie deficit (or surplus), without the need for you to count calories. Not only is this a lot easier than counting calories, the WeightWare approach is more accurate, because it is calculated from your actual weight!
