Using the WeightWare Metabolic Rate Calculator
This window allows you to quickly estimate your "Metabolic Rate". This is an
estimate of the number of calories (or, joules) that you need to consume each day to maintain your
current weight. This estimate will help you to set your initial calorie intake
goals to achieve weight loss.
This calculator can be accessed from the "Tools" menu.

Determining your Metabolic Rate
After entering Height, Weight, Gender, and Age, use the slider to select the Activity Level that
best describes your day-to-day activities. Your predicted metabolic rate will automatically be calculated and displayed
in the field.
If you are interested in losing weight, subtract 500 calories (2100 joules) from your metabolic rate and
try to limit your daily diet to this level. This should result in weight loss of 1 lb (0.5 kg) per week,
a reasonable and healthy goal for most people.
